Barack Obama A Celebrity Said Opponent John McCain

Has Presidential contender, John McCain felt that elevating Barack Obama’s status to that of a celebrity is the best way to bring him down in the public eye?

A spokesperson for presidential hopeful Barack Obama has responded to the latest campaign ad, which pits Obama as a celebrity akin to sometime-troubled stars Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.

“On a day when major news organizations across the country are taking Senator McCain to task for a steady stream of false, negative attacks, his campaign has launched yet another. Or, as some might say, ‘Oops! He did it again,’” a statement from Obama campaign spokesperson Tommy Vietor read.

McCain’s ad, which made the rounds today begins with video footage of Spears and Hilton intercut with footage of Obama, before a female announcer says, “He’s the biggest celebrity in the world, but is he ready to lead?”

The ad continues attacking Obama’s position on offshore drilling and claiming he will raise taxes before McCain’s voice is heard saying he “approves” the ad spot.

Creating negativity regarding Obama at the same time as creating a positive image, McCain has utilized footage of these other mega celebrities (with less than squeaky clean reputations) in his attempt to steal the lead in the race for the White House.

Business Kept Rachel Bilson Busy Yesterday

Being a super hot movie/tv actress isn’t all glitzy premieres and glamorous industry events.  Sometimes you have to take care of the business end of things, as evidenced by Rachel Bilson yesterday.

The “Last Kiss” hottie was spotted making her way to the Catfish Productions office in Culver City, California, carrying a cup of coffee to help her stay awake.

And Miss Bilson looked casual-chic in a white half-button-up top with a pair of distressed denim jeans, an oversized hobo handbag and a pair of open-toe ankle boots by Martin Margiela.

Following her business meeting, the 26-year-old brunette babe headed over to 3rd Street in West Hollywood to meet up with a gal pal and do a little shopping at Milk.

Kate Hudson The Supportive MOM

Actress Kate Hudson says she will suport her son ryder in any career choice he makes, even if it is unconventional.

Hudson says that she was given the freedom to pursue any career by her mother Goldie Hawn and she wants to do the same for her son.

The actress said, “If ryder came to me and said, ‘Mom, I want to pump gas better than anybody who has ever pumped gas’, I wouldn’t say, ‘no, you’re going to be a doctor’. It would be taking somebody’s dream and passion and squashing it.”

“The one thing I have learned with ryder is that the second you have children they’re immediately who they are and your role as a parent is to nature that and try to atleast keep them on the right track, keep them grounded and give them unconditional love.”

Fergie’s New Adorable Line Of Footwear

Fergie’s shoes don’t require an Introduction….. after all this picture is saying thousand of words. This is Fergie’s absolutely adorable new line of footwear which launched this week at the Las Vegas convention center.

From chunky platforms to dramatic gladiator sandals we love them all! We weren’t sure what to expect since Fergie is sometimes a fashion hit or miss, but as she proves in this dress, she may finally be getting her fashionably consistent footing (no pun intended)!

The shoes are definitely dramatic – between the wedges, the heels and the colors, they’re not necessarily something you’d just wear out anywhere, but they look perfect for a special occasion or for that perfect outfit!

Late Night Partying Lands Shia LaBeouf In Cuffs

The latest muck up in Hollywood was committed by actor Shia LaBeouf; who spent the wee hours of Sunday morning chatting with police officials after his automobile was involved in a critical crash.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. S. Wolf told the Associated Press that the 3 a.m. accident occurred when LaBeouf made a left turn in front of another vehicle, which caused his own to roll over. Smart!

Furthermore, upon arriving on the scene officers found that “…LaBeouf was intoxicated and he was subsequently placed under arrest,” according to Wolf.

The actor was booked for a misdemeanor DUI and was eventually released.

Because both Shia and his female passengers sustained injuries, the group then sought treatment at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. But luckily the other driver walked away with barely a scratch.

On Sunday evening spokeswoman Melissa Kates issued the following statement:

“Attorneys for Mr. LaBeouf confirm that an automobile accident involving an additional party occurred early morning in Los Angeles on July 27, 2008. Shia is currently recovering from extensive hand surgery with plans to return to work on the set of Transformers 2 within one month…”

As we all know, this is not the star’s first run-in with the authorities. In November of ’07 he was hauled off to jail after causing a drunken spectacle inside a Chicago Walgreens. And this year on two separate occasions he received a hefty fine for puffing on a cigarette in a non-smoking vicinity.

Selma Blair In New Long, Dark Locks

Celebrities love to play with different hair styles! Lengths, colors, etc. Changing their look with a clip of the scissors or the “click” of an extension being snapped into place. Sure, a lot of it has to do with the roles they play and they tend to go be at the director’s – and stylist’s mercy for many of these parts.

This is the case with Selma Blair this weekend who stepped out in new, long, dark locks. Selma has been out and about a lot lately, promoting her new movie, Hellboy 2 and working on her new show Kath and Kim, in which she plays Molly Shannon’s daughter.

Is it just me or does it seem weird that Selma would play the daughter of Molly Shannon? Aren’t they like, practically the same age? The duo did crack a similar joke when promoting the show at the Summer TCAs recently.

It’ll be interesting to see Selma on the small screen with longer locks – and trying out her comedy acting chops.

Giselle Bundchen With Ebel Sheet and Beluga watch

Giselle Bundchen is giving a hot expression on her face and mostly naked body (although it’s covered by a sheet, sorry to disappoint) to the company, Ebel and it’s sister-brand, watch-maker Movado.

In the ad she wears nothing but an Ebel sheet and the new Beluga watch. The photographer of the campaign said he was seeking to evoke a  sense of femininity, mystery and luxury – is that what we’re calling pouty lips and near-nakedness nowadays? Good to  know.

Gisele won’t be the only beautiful face making an appearance for the watch company. Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees is also back as the face of Movado. The brand is introducing the Derek Jeter limited edition watch for Series 800 this fall — and Jeter himself was very involved in the design process, which includes three different versions.

We tend to get a little weary of celebs and their “design cred” but we have to give the company AND the celeb credit this time -  only 100 pieces will be available and a portion of the sales will go to Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation.

Jennifer Garner Expecting Her Second Child

Jennifer Garner is pregnant with her second child. The couple “Jennifer garner and Ben Affleck”- who already have a two-year-old daughter Violet – will soon be adding to their family.

Jennifer’s former ‘Alias’ co-star Victor Garber-who officiated Ben and Jennifer’s wedding in 2005 – was asked if the actress is pregnant, he replied: “Yes, she is.”

Jennifer, 36, recently hinted she and Ben were planning to further extend their brood. A source said “Jennifer is five months pregnant. They are both very happy.”

Jennifer said: “We definitely wonder what it would be like to have another – hopefully, knock on wood, someday. My job is great to have as a mom. I get to take breaks and then work in a really concentrated way. During that concentrated time, it sucks, but whatever.”

Britney Loses Custody Of Sons

Britney’s ex-husband Kevin Federline has retained “sole legal and physical custody” of their two sons. Britney now agreed on the settlement custody agreement according to which she has monitored visitation sessions with Sean Preston, two, and 21-month-old Jayden James, two days a week and one overnight stay.

Mark Vincent Kaplan attorney of Kevin Federline said last night that the custody case was signed. The parties are agreed on the statement ” Kevin will retain sole legal and physical custody of Sean Preston and Jayden James and Britney will have the monitored visitation sessions with the two sons”.

Britney first lost custody of the children in October. In January, all rights to see them were withdrawn following her alleged mental breakdown.

Subsequent court appearances have seen her visitation time slowly increased.She is now currently under the legal conservatorship of her father Jamie, who has control over her entire estate and financial accounts.

Katie Price and Peter Andre Are To Adopt An Orphan

British model-turned-reality TV star Katie Price and her pop star husband Peter Andre are looking to adopt a child from Eastern Europe after a TV documentary about a Bulgarian orphanage. Katie Price reveals that she and Andre felt compelled to do something after watching a film about the abuse and neglect of the orphans, who are living in a home for mentally and physically handicapped kids. Price says, “The programme moved me to tears. So many babies who are born with disabilities find it hard to find adoptive parents – no one wants them. “We want to be able to help a child to have a better life, so Pete and I have been to see a lawyer about adopting a baby from abroad.“ One of the model’s three children, Harvey, is autistic and partially blind.
